Pricing
Why pay if LeedPDF is open source?
The code is free under AGPL-3.0, and it always will be. What you buy is the ready-to-use desktop app: built, signed, and kept up to date for you. Those purchases are the only income this project has. No investors, no ads, no selling your data.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and the app is yours. There is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.
If I buy the Mac app, do I need to buy the iPad app separately?
No. Buy LeedPDF on Mac or iPad and you get the other one included, with the same App Store purchase.
Do I pay again for updates?
No. Every update we ship, including new features, is free for everyone who has bought the app.
What does the desktop app add over the free web version?
The same annotation tools, without browser limits. Large PDFs open without crashing, Ctrl+S saves straight back to the original file, you can set LeedPDF as your default PDF app, use your system fonts, and compress PDFs locally.
Does my Apple purchase cover Windows too?
No. The Windows app is sold separately, directly by us, because it is a different store.
Can I share it with my family?
On Mac and iPad, yes. Family Sharing is enabled, so up to six family members can use LeedPDF from a single App Store purchase.
Why is the Windows price shown without tax?
VAT or sales tax depends on where you live, so it is added at checkout. App Store prices are set by Apple and can vary by country.
Installing
How do I install the Windows app?
Download the installer and run it. LeedPDF guides you through setup and installs to your Program Files folder by default. Prefer not to install? Look for the portable download, which runs without installation.
How do I install the Mac or iPad app?
Tap "Download for macOS" or "Download for iPad" to open the App Store, then install as usual. On Mac, LeedPDF appears in your Applications folder, Launchpad, and Spotlight.
Are the desktop apps safe?
Yes. LeedPDF is digitally signed and the full source code is on GitHub. The Mac and iPad apps also go through App Store review. Some antivirus tools flag new Windows apps as unfamiliar; that is normal for less common software. LeedPDF does not collect usage data or touch files other than the PDFs you open.
What about Linux?
A Linux app is planned for a future release. For now, the web version works great on Linux and every other platform. Since LeedPDF is open source, you can also check GitHub for community-maintained builds.
How do I uninstall LeedPDF?
On Windows, use "Add or remove programs" or the uninstaller in the Start menu. On Mac, drag LeedPDF from Applications to the Trash. Your annotations and settings are removed along with the app.
